Join a game

Enter the game code shown on the host's screen.

How joining a Ponko game works

  1. The host puts a code on screen

Whoever is running the quiz shows a six-character code, usually beside a QR code. The codes leave out 0, O, 1 and I, so there is nothing ambiguous to mistype.

  2. You enter it here

Type the code above, then pick a nickname and an avatar. There is nothing to install and no account to create.

  3. You answer on your own phone

Questions appear on the host's screen and you tap your answer here. Answering correctly sooner scores more, and the leaderboard updates between questions.

Do I need an account?
No. Joining needs the code and nothing else. Accounts exist for people who want to create and host their own quizzes.
Do I need to install an app?
No. Ponko runs in the browser on phones, tablets and computers. Scanning the host's QR code opens the right page directly.
The code isn't working.
A code only works while its game is open, so one from a finished game will not let you in. Check the characters against the host's screen — and note that a nickname another player has already taken is refused too.
How many people can play at once?
Up to 190 players in a single game.
I was sent a link or a code for a quiz to do on my own.
That is a self-paced quiz. Open the link, or type the code above, before the deadline: you play alone, at your own pace, with one try. Your answers are saved as you go, so if you close the page you can continue on the same device.

Running your own
